Serving bowls, both large and small, would be great! It would be
wonderful
to have a set that could be used to serve high table, at least. Also,
serving platters of some sort, probably wood would be the most
practical.
<snip>

We have already been working on that-- matched sets of bowls, platters,
pitchers, goblets, etc. We make them already with our own custom
glazes, and are developing more period recipes for glazes. We are also
adapting more historic styles. I.e. the way the lip is formed, the
handle attached, the way of putting on the glaze.... Stuff like you
just mentioned woul dbe very easy to make for us, because we make (and
sell) stuff like it already :)

We are having a big war this weekend, and for our high table we made
cups, mugs, goblets, bowls, and plates all with glazes and then we
imprinted it with some images, And we then put a fluer de lis medallion
on them and then put a 24 carot gold luster on the fluer de lis. It
looked pretty neat. We also sometimes carve or stamp images all around,
like little oak leaves around a rim, or for one person, we just made a
pitcher with the seal of the Templars on it. I think the look pretty
neat, and its fun researching more period styles.

We are also trying to figure out what other items would be of use. the
idea of special shaped bottles, bread bowls, and feast gear are all very
good ideas and easy for us to work on. We are also working on those
mugs/cups with faces on them. I am enjoying getting feedback from
people so we know what folks are looking for, it helps us focus on what
to try making next.

My husband is pretty happy because he just developed a lead-free version
of the 'green glaze' that was so popular historically. He has been using
it on stoneware, firing the pieces to a higher temperature than
historically was used, but we think thats a reasonsable substition for
modern day and makes it stronger :) Now we just gotta think of more
things to put it on :) His current custom glazes (stong blues, reds,
and greens, browns, whites etc) are really nice, but not as prevalant
historically depending on the time it was used. But we didn't like the
low fired pottery-- it was too pourous and fragile. And the traditional
green glaze had lead, not a good thing modern day. So we're glad to have
worked out a stronger red clay body and green glaze.

Are you going to be offering these for sale? If so, where? Pennsic, I
hope!! If not, on the web perhaps????

We sell at regional fairs in the northwest, but pensic, is a bit far
from us here in North Idaho. But we are starting to do special mail
order and such. We have been doing some custom work for local
medievalists, and mail order for southern california for the the
Imperial Court of Adria. Things like feast gear and site tokens, award
tokens, etc. We will soon make a web site after we develop some more
products that people are looking for. We always do custom work, but
that's hard to show and folks like to see things ready to go too. IF
there is something you are looking for, let us know and we will try it--
we like to learn! My husband, the potter, is an archaelogist, so he will
really enjoy it too. We got so bored doing the craft shows all the time,
its time to expand a little :)
