I've made that one for a May Day feast many years ago.  It's a wine-
based syrup, and it was immensely popular.  The redaction (I think)
was in _Sallets, Humbles, and Shrewsbury Cakes_.  The original
was in one of the late-period English sources.  I can find it tonight.
