I had one for a while, too.  One of my college roommate's guests
accidentally killed him... bizarre and rather sad story.  Anyway, for
heat, I found that a glue-on heating pad on the bottom (outside) of the
tank did a good job of warming the tank.  You should be able to get them
at pet stores.  The heat was a lot more diffuse than a hot rock.  I
would supplement it with a heat lamp during the day when the heat had to
be higher.  Mine would only eat red leaf lettuce.  No other veggies, no
other type of lettuce, no crickets.  I was told that many iguanas are
picky like that, so I bought a reptile nutritional supplement that I
sprinkled on the lettuce.  I remember reading that adult iguanas need
exremely little protein, so things like crickets or dog food should only
be occasional treats.  If it's young and still growing, though, it's
much more important.
