For most uses, I think using a knife is fine (although I prefer my
3-inch Dick paring knife for that one)...(all right, I'm embarrassed
now - I forget whether I own a 3-inch Dick; I think I do, but the one
I normally use is a Wusthof).

Yes, as mentioned previously, you do get some partial kernels, but
most of what you see when you look is still whole kernels.

Adamantius, who uses canned corn fairly frequently as a pantry
convenience, but cannot abide frozen
