UNIVERSITY OF CAERTHE

At the end of this month, Lady Aethelind of Erbesweald will speak to us on
"Influences of Religion on the Medieval Diet". During the Middle Ages, the
three great religions - Christianity, Judaism, Islam - all had various
dietary rules or laws which influenced the recipes and food practices of
the period. The presentation will outline important aspects of these
religious gastronomies. Many of us have seen and sampled Lady Aethelind's
ingenious meal creations at Culinary Collegia or the feast at last month's
Caerthen Arts and Sciences Competition. This will be a chance to learn how
to prepare meals consistent with our own personas.

We will meet at 7:30 P.M., January 29, the fifth Wednesday of the month, at
Salamander Manor, the home of Mistress Bernice of Brittany - 3495 Newland
Street, WheatRidge, Colorado. All are encouraged to attend. Period garb is
optional, but appreciated. For further information, call Mistress Bernice,
303-233-9558, Master Robin Vinehall, 303-444-5004, or Lady Aethelind,
720-872-1619. You may recall that this University was originally scheduled
for last October, but had to be cancelled because of bad weather. Let's
hope that the skies will be clear this time.
