i used to have to translate for my dad in the days before internet
banking... <grin>
and trying to handle phone relays could be trying..

"hello, i am calling for Rev. Pickering and.."
"i dont know him"
"no.. this is Rev. Pickering calling, he is deaf.. i am translating for him"
"huh?"

when email first became available to me, i typed *just* like with a TTY
(sorry a TDD) and no one understood me.
