[Sca-cooks] OT- Input request from SCA BoD/politics

And it is my understanding that they get very few comments. So if you want
input into the selection process, you should a)comment on anyone already
nominated that you know and b)nominate any gentles you think would be good
folks to serve on the BoD.

I objected to the idea of having the Kings select folks to be on the BoD and
having members actually represent Kingdoms because I fear that such an
arrangement would make it so that the BoD would find itself no longer able
to consider the welfare of the Society as a whole, but rather a forum for
debates as to the interests of the various Kingdoms. While there may be a
better way to do this than what we currently use, at least the people who
are selected are more able to look at the general state of things and how
they affect all of us rather than getting tied up in how something is going
to affect their "constituents". I also worry about the quality of those who
might be chosen by the Kings...while I'm sure that most royalty would choose
folks who would be good additions to our governing body, there are those who
would see this as a chance to put someone on the BoD who would represent
their own private interests.
