Correct. However, this works by concentrating the alchol by
removing the water that turns into ice. In the original suggestion,
the wine was frozen and the entire amount was later melted and
mixed together again. So, I don't think that the original
suggestion would raise the alcohol precentage.

Thank you for this referance. This is the first I've heard of
this book. Considering who the author is, I think this would
be a good one to get for anyone interested in period distilled
beverages.
