OK, I know I'm not "everyone else," but I am going to take a moment to defend this decision :) I was talking to a couple of very experienced SCAers last night about the feast, and said I was thinking about serving the three courses over a two-hour period. It was suggested that I make it longer, at least an hour per course, because:
 a) getting 3 courses out of the kitchen in 2 hours and still allowing everyone time to enjoy the food is supposed to be impossible
b) the autocrats suggest that the diners be entertained between courses (music, poetry, dancing, etc)
c) the event is really centered around the feast - there's no fighting or anything, so we don't want the feast to be rushed. It's really the focal point of the evening, and we want to use it not simply to feed people, but also to supply some ambience. It should be relaxed and luxurious, but still satisfy peoples' appetites. I am hoping I can achieve this by serving dishes that are mostly not too rich, so people will not feel full after the first course.

Three hours sounded a bit long to me too at first, but now I rather like the thought of stretching the feasting period out a bit. I'm hoping people will spend the time talking and being entertained, and not be bored out of their skulls by long pauses between courses :-( Of course I can always make the feast only two courses, and make it a lot shorter. But I wonder if that would be less enjoyable... Please let me know what you all think. If I have totally the wrong idea here, I'm ok with changing it, but I'm also interested in trying it this way - as an experiment, if nothing else.

Yes, there most definitely will be photos taken! Of that much I am certain :-)
