Unsweetened herb tea would be a lot more period.
Commercial ginger beer and root beer taste very little like the homemade
versions of these drinks from the 19th and 20th centuries. Can anyone
comment on the small beer made with ginger that's in the 17th century
brewing text, as compared to either Canada Dry type ginger ale or real if
commercial ginger ber?
