Tread carefully here - Hannah-Barbera did a lot more than just
Scooby Doo. Besmirch Them Not Lightly.

Of course, I also have to wonder which character it is that you were said
to resemble... :-)

"Classic" Warner Brothers and a reasonable portion of their more recent
stuff (before the marketroids cancelled it all GRRRRRRRR......) is definitely
quite good (though I was less fond of the 70's era when "Charles M. Jones"
became "Chuck Jones" and started drawing EVERYTHING "Dr. Suess style"...other
than, of course, "What's Opera, Doc?". But I digress...). At this point I
return, though, to my original point -

The "Tom and Jerry" (and Droopy Dog and Screwy Squirrel [he's my hero!] [Go
ahead, everyone. Get it out of your system. You know you want to. All
together now:"Why am I not suprised?"...] and other Tex Avery [insert
Angelic Chorus sound here] characters) were also Hannah-Barbera.

As was "Thundarr, the Barbarian", but we won't get into that :-)
My main complaint about Hannah-Barbera in this era was that they seemed
to have about 3 people doing all of the voices for all of their shows. I
still chuckle to myself thinking about the time I caught an episode of
"Thundarr, The Barbarian" (nearly 20 years or so after having seen it as
a child) and hearing one of the villains speak....and expecting him at any
minute to pop out with "Barney! My Pebbles!" because it was obviously
the same voice....

Oh, and in the interest of making sure everyone has more detail than
they need - I'm pretty sure "Terence and Philip" is intended to lampoon
"Beavis and Butthead" (one of the few cartoons I've ever been unable to
stand more than 10 minutes of. Total. Ever.) rather than Tom and Jerry.

Oh, and if Scooby were a real dog, he'd be a "Harlequin Great Dane", or so it
was said on one of the dog usenet groups I used to subscribe to. I get the
impression the "Brown with black markings" pattern doesn't actually occur
among Great Danes, though.

And, now that everyone has received their US RDA of Useless Knowledge (and
them some) from this posting, I'll shut up...

Umgawa.

(When I was a child, I loved cartoons, but those big, mean adults wouldn't let
me watch them whenever I wanted, so I promised myself that when *I* was
an adult, I'd watch cartoons all the time. And buy myself toys. And stay up
late when I wanted. It would have been such a shame to break such a solemn
promise to myself. If *I* can't trust me to keep my promises, who could?...)
