[Sca-cooks] Carving on bread

Funny how the old traditions remain--my dear old Dad used to do just that with the roast beef...put a slice of bread (normal, Arnold's type white bread, or bakery rye) on the serving plate under the roast before he began cutting.  Then we would fight over who got the drippy, juice-soaked stuff.
