Thank you, Barbara, for your tantalizing recipes.

I have a big problem with them, though. It appears you cut and pasted
out of a word processing program and you used special characters when
you typed it in.

I get the digest and i am seeing things like:
>=BD can - Crescent Rolls
>=BE C - Parmesan Cheese

The Salmon Casserole ingredients list was:
>=BD t - Galingale
>=BC t- Pepper
>=BD t - Ginger
>12 - 15 - Threads Saffron
>=BD t - Salt
>=BE C - Bitter Orange Juice
>1 T - Fresh Mint
>2 T - Fresh Marjoram
>2 T - Fresh Parsley
>=BC C - Pine Nuts
>=BC C - Ground Almond
>=BD C - Chopped Raisins
>1 Side - Salmon

And the Pork in Ale Sauce, from "Two Fifteenth Century Cookbooks":

It's likely that if these recipes are on a web site, the special
characters are going to display funny unless you've converted them
all to ASCII in the HTML.

I'm can guess that the =BD is 1/2 (but it could be 1/4) and that the
=BE is 1/4 (but it could be 1/2), and that the =FE is a thorn...

I'd just like to remind posters to the list, that special characters
in one font or in one OS do not necessarily match those in another
font or on another OS. And "automatic curly quotes" also show up
weird. I know that we here use a variety of OS's and e-mail programs.
I appreciate the recipes that folks share enormously, but it's hard
to translate some of those "funny" characters...
