Some people are twitchy and rude. IMNSHO, the ones who object the most in
these situations are the ones who are the most insecure and defensive about
their own status.

I have a number of headdresses from the 14th-15th c. Some of them are
metal- metal cauls on a metal band, ornamented with pearls and jewels. The
first one I made had a metal filigree band, and I showed it to a Countess I
knew (Countess Morag, who had been the first Queen of An Tir). I asked here
if there were any 'legal' problems with construction or ornament, and she
said no. And she told me if there were questions, to send such rude persons
to her. ;-) The only people who tried to give me a hard time were not
County, or peers, or even people I knew. Strangers, who obviously didn't
have anythign better to do. I introduced myself, gave my full rank & title,
and explained the documentation, AND that Morag had told me it was ok. I
don't usually like to name-drop, but the effect was well worth it... ;-)
