In the same local paper with the article about non-stick sprays and
non-stick pans (another thread) was an article about sourdough starters.
Early on, the author talks of senior male relative who had his own
starter and made his own bread. He had passed away, and his widow, who
didn't bake bread, didn't want to just throw out this 50 year old
sourdough starter. So the author's mother arranged to find it a good
home with her daughter, who had not bought bread ever since (even on the
occasionally bum batch)

Premediated homicide crossed my mind. Hey, inner city kids are doing it
for basketball shoes......
