<<Two other features:
1- most of the large bags of pre-diced onions I've seen have been frozen.
There are times and places where this is fine; others, when it's not.
2- unless you can get them in restaurant-size bags, it's too darn
expensive to buy them pre-chopped.

her to pre-peel and slice raw turnips for Armored turnips...)>>

I got 5 lbs of fresh diced onions from U.S. Foodservice for $4.55. I did have to buy a minimum of $350.00 from them before they would bring the food out to the site though, and it was strictly COD - no checks.

I hate raw chicken too. I used to cut it up for a living, and coming home everyday covered in chicken fat was gross. At my last feast I used frozen 6 oz. chicken breasts, just so I wouldn't have to deal with the raw chicken. Portion control was easier too.

I made armored turnips at the feast mentioned above, and tried desperately to find them canned, or even frozen diced, but no such luck. Thay are _definitely_ easier to peel and cut after being boiled, but I wouldn't have known that except for this fabulous list.
