ringers is not a blood substitute.
ringers is food...
ringers lactate is basically intravenous sugars and stuff....

admittedly if you just need FLUID volume, ringers is perfectly
acceptable..... and so would saline or any number of other products... and
if you are just a pint low, fluids is all you need
(even two pints)
but if you are in a car accident, and gushing blood. you need BLOOD for
oxygen and nutrient transport in your system.

while blood does carry waste products , it is also the main source of
carrying oxygen throughout your sytem.. as well as glucose and other things.
plus the platelets in blood are what makes you clot.. no platelets and you
keep bleeding.
also your blood is what has all your antibodies.... which is why you arent
dead in five minutes from a cold.

so there is no way to substitute for blood....... its just that most people
can stand to be a LITTLE low as long as they have enough fluid in their
systems.
