This has probably been given before, but now I can't find it. Can someone
give me a ahort description of this event or why it was a "tavern feast"?
I've got this interesting collection of recipes for a possible feast article
for the Florilegium, but it would be nice for folks to have some background
on why these particular dishes were chosen.

Northpass has traditionally run a midwinter "Tavern" event - no fighting, no
court, no High Table, just good food, good drink and bawdy fun. There is a
group of women who volunteer to serve as "tavern wenches" for serving
purposes.

We chose these dishes because we though German food was a good, hearty
choice for a midwinter event, and Phlip had the idea for the "four elements"
theme - five, if you allow for the free flow of spirit in the hall. :-)
