I just did the Medieval Congress in Kalamazoo last week where I caught
up
with Cindy Renfrow, had supper with MEM or Mary Morman,
attended several sessions and bought lots of
books. Cindy presented paper on the
ONLINE CULINARY HISTORY NETWORK project.

New titles of interest are Anne Van Arsdall. Medieval Herbal Remedies
The Old English Herbarium and Anglo-Saxon Medicine.
The other interesting title is Creating Community with Food and Drink in

Merovingian Gaul by Bonnie Effros which is a work on the food and
drink in early medieval Gaul. No recipes, but very interesting for those

wanting the academic picture of what they were eating in the 7th and 8th

centuries in the religious communities. Not for the faint of heart--
half the book
is footnotes and bibliography.
