Gunther et alles,
I was elevate to the Laurelate in 02 not for cooking,
but for animal husbandry, raising poultry and other
livestock, teaching slaughtering classes and
encouraging others to do the same, or at least know
about it!

I feel I can say I'm a fair cook, depending on the
cuisine and resources at hand. Laurel quality cook?
No, that is I'm no Cordon Bleu, Master Chef 'OMYGOD'
Iron Chef, there are those here and I'm humbled to
know a few of them. I am the first to proclaim that my
apprentice Olwen Buckfast is by far my superior as a
cook and such, I am humbled to serve as the Lady's
sponsor and social guide.

The thing is the Laurel, like the Pelican and Knight
are so much more than a master of a craft! They are
first and foremost a PEER of the Realm, a partner in
governing and a representive of the people to the
crown.

Honestly the Laurelate hasnt' and couldn't make me a
better farmer, poultrier or cook, but being a good
farmer, poultrier and cook has made me what I hope is
a good Laurel, one who can bring a balanced and yet
unique vision to the crown.

My own thoughts for what it's worth.
