About the bacon -- I was assuming "normal" servings, and a moderate budget.
I can get away with providing two thick-cut slices per person (8 servings
per pound) if there's lots of other stuff to eat, but that doesn't feel
generous, or provide much for the true carnivores. On the other hand, if you
can't afford more, it will do. 6 servings a pound works out better, without
leaving leftovers.
