Time to start some retroactive correction.
In conjunction with your Event Steward and your Seneschal you should be
doing a bit of extra PR work.
1) Send one (or more) event announcements to your kingdom mail list.
Mention that the announcement didn't get into the kingdom newsletter.
This is so folks do see the message and delete it, figuring they will
get the rest of the details from the newsletter. This also helps put it
in their mind so when they scan the event calendar in the newsletter,
they remember that not all events are given there.
2) Make sure the event is in the kingdom calendar posted on your
kingdom website.
3) Depending upon the time to your event now, make sure you send out
letters of invitation to the event and a copy of the event announcement
to each of the seneschals (and baron/esses) of the groups in your
kingdom, or at least the nearby groups, and ask them to announce it at
their meetings or fighter practices.
4) Make copies of the event announcements and send sets for handing out
with folks going to nearby events.
It is too late now, but this is one of the reasons my barony will often
pay for an extra month's announcement space in the kingdom newsletter.
Your group may have already done much of what I'm suggesting. Also some
things are available in some kingdoms but not in others. I don't know
but thought these might be ideas to keep in mind.
Our kingdom has started limiting the number of official on-calendar
events that a group can hold (two for barony, one for shires?), so
these methods also might be good to keep in mind for such
"off-calendar" events.
