If you want to be picky, even phrased this way, there are traps to be 
careful of.

The answer to the above question phrased that way, for Britain and 
rabbits, would be the first centuries CE.

The Romans did raise rabbits in Britain. However, after the Romans 
left, the rabbits seem to have died out until they were re-introduced 
to Britain by the Normans. So, while the Romans had rabbits, the 
Anglo-Saxons didn't. To complicate things further, the Anglo-Saxons did 
have hares, since they were native to Britain. They just didn't have 
rabbits.

I'm sure there are many other such situations.
