Did you know that Billings, MT is my home town? I miss it.

I spent Christmas with a dear friend of mine, Baroness Alys, and we
just made a nice dinner together. I prepared some stirfried greens (
kale & spinach cooked in a bit of bacon fat, garlic, toasted sesame oil
and balsamic vinegar), twice-baked potatoes (baked potatoes scooped
of thier innards, the potato mixed with salt, pepper, 3 cheeses and sour
cream, topped with cheese and then baked again just before dinner),
spaghetti with an Italian sausage red sauce, homemade ravioli filled with
riccotta, spinach, proscuitto and a bit of nutmeg served in an herbed
brown butter sauce and dinner rolls. She provided grilled NY Strip steaks
and a nice homemade bundt poundcake topped with chocolate mocha
frosting. I also brought a bottle of this wonderful California Petit Syrah
to
drink. I made so much pasta because she lives with some people who are
on Adkins so pasta is a real treat for her.
There was so much food that we finished the meal and it looked like we
hadn't touched it. Both of us are true feast cooks.

For Christmas I got a baby parakeet. It's very cute and she thought I needed
a pet. It should be an adventure.

I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday.
