Nope, things like that never are. I've been relatively lucky that in my 
lifetime, about every 7 years I can eat something that used to stick in 
my throat before. This last time it was squash.. Yay! given that as a 
child I couldn't eat baked squash even with all those little tricks one 
uses to get through the 'just try some' that parents put on the plate.

I'm hoping that the next time the things I will be able to eat are liver 
and mutton-- it's embarrassing that I can't. However, liver seems to 
be a genetic thing, to some people (like me) it has a mouth-feel of 
corrugated cardboard and to others it tastes as good as it smells. I 
worry that I'll never like mutton, because I don't recall having as much 
trouble with it when we first had it (I was 10) as I do now as an adult. 

But then, I've triumphed over onions (which I now love), green peppers, 
olives, wine, and a whole bunch of other things... there's no accounting 
for taste, I guess.
