Well, be annoyed at me, then, because we always wanted ketchup on our
meatloaf- it was part of the comfort food thang, just like hamburgers
require ketchup.

Some recipes, I think, "require" condiments, as part of the "proper" recipe-
hot dogs and mustard, for example, or vinegar or ketchup on french fries.

Yes, you can change the condiments, as the Aussies have with their version
of a hamburger, or as Wendy's does in Athens Ohio- the ultimate garbage
burger- stone ground bun, alfalfa sprouts, guacamole, etc, but when you want
certain comfort foods, the condiments are a part of them.
