I think I have gotten all 69,000....

Seriously, I have AVG Free Edition, which does a decent job of at least notifying me that I have
recieved a  virus, even if it can't nab the little bastard before it infects my computer.  I have
never had a major virus, which caused anything more than a self-perpetuating mailer, so I consider
myself lucky.

One of the tactics I use to spot this problem, in case my virus scanner does not, is to keep about
10 or 12 'dead' e-mail addresses in my address book.  Meaning, addresses which I know are no
longer valid.  When I get a notice from my mail provider of a returned mail to any of these
addresses, I know something is up, and can run a deep clean on my system.

It works about 90+ % of the time.
