I think the publisher knew exactly what was wanted and needed.
They wanted a small book, inexpensive paperback, that could be sold to
tourists
getting off of tourist buses at various historic places in the UK.
The book was being sold at the British Museum
when I was in England back in 2004.
Ms. Savelli is Mistress Isolde de la Ramee, by the way.
One thing that should be remembered is that she was not
a cook, and she tells audiences this upfront.
She does Anglo-Saxon research. The publisher just
asked her to please do a cookbook for them. So she did one
basing her ingredients on what she could find at the local grocery in Ohio.
