Daniel in the northern west lands asked:
====
I am new to the list and fairly new to the SCA. I was looking for
ways to
make bread at camp. Can anybody help me? I have a propane stove and a
Colman type oven.
====

A number of people on this list have commented on having good luck
with these "Coleman type" ovens. I assume you are talking about the
sheet metal boxes which sit on top of the burner(s) of a Coleman stove.

You find comments and suggestions on these in this file in the SCA-
CAMPING section of the Florilegium, as well as messages on cooking
bread other ways in camp.
camp-ovens-msg (64K) 12/24/02 Small period and SCA camp ovens.

If you really feel adventurous, you might also consider a brick or
earth oven. This file is in the FOOD-UTENSILS section of the
Florilegium:
ovens-msg (100K) 3/26/05 Medieval ovens and SCA camp ovens.

Or were you looking for recipes and bread techniques to use in such
an oven? In that case, take a look through the files in the FOOD-
BREADS section, such as:
bread-msg        (220K)  3/23/06    Medieval breads and grains.
breadmaking-msg (248K) 3/28/06 Period bread recipes and re-
creations.
