[Sca-cooks] OoP: Looking for Broccoli Recipe...

...that is not at all "period"...

I'm in search of a broccoli recipe that includes colorful additions
and doesn't have a sauce. I'm cooking for a non-Medieval wedding and
broccoli is one of the vegetables of choice, but crisp steamed
broccoli is a little too plain.

I had suggested tossing the broccoli with finely diced red bell
pepper to make it a little more colorful, but the groom dislikes bell
peppers.

I'm now thinking of tossing the broccoli with finely diced sun-dried
tomatoes, olive oil, some herbs - thyme and tarragon - and possibly
some finely diced Moroccan style salted lemons and ground cubeb.

I own few modern American cookbooks - instead my library is full of
Medieval, Middle Eastern, and Southeast Asian cookbooks. Anyone have
any other ideas?

(the meal includes - but is not limited to - stuffed mushroom caps,
Caesar salad, brisket/pot roast with carrots, chicken stewed with
fruit, and pasta)

Another question:
I am not much of a bread eater, so i'm no judge of how much bread
needs to be served - how do i gauge this? There will be a maximum of
150 diners. I'll probably be buying sweet sourdough and similar
artisanal breads (baguettes and batards). I'm wildly guessing 1/2
loaf for six diners, but i may be greatly underestimating...

Thanks for any help.
