You'd need to keep buttercream icing out of direct sunlight because of the
heat.  A shaded area may still be hot, but it would be cooler than in direct
sun.  Color can be an issue as well, if the icing has been colored, example
leaves, roses, other colored decoration, direct sunlight for a long enough
period can bleach the color, although I seriously doubt it would happen in
just a couple hours.  I think I've only had one time that I had the icing
fall off the cake, and the reception was being done in a metal building with
no air conditioning during mid summer.  I had to replace the icing and
repair the decorations, and told them I would not do it again as the problem
was not my work but the heat of the building melting the icing.
