since each diet is a bit different as to what is "allowed" and what isnt, I find it
useful to go through the database of reconstructed medieval recipes and star the
ones that work.
if she's not trying to stick to 100% authentic food, there's lots of ways that the
medieval recipe can be slimmed down, too (ex: carmelizing onions in broth and wine
instead of oil or butter, minimizing cheese or using low fat mozz or ricotta, etc)
I've managed to eat pretty dang well even when dieting while sticking to period
food at events :)
