Saint Phlip, and all,

Thanks for posting that nice lamb compilation.
That does sound like at least in this case one makes
pancakes/crepes of egg to cover both a board and the
actual critter to be eaten.
She does specifically list gilding/silvering as an
option for decoration. Im at work and all my stuff is
home so I cant refer back to the original, though Im
tempted to take a digital photo of the page with the
facsimile recipe on it, not that it answers any of the
questions.

I do wonder if the 4 'sticks' that are specified might
be intended so the piglet can 'stand up' as the lamb
in the first recipe is made to do using spits, rather
than just to keep piglet from sliding around.

I think recipe 9 is also a pig or piglet, but I did
not look closely at it last night. Perhaps tonight,
if this list is not WAY ahead of me by the time I get
that far.

BTW, Im loving all this discussion of things German.
Ranveig, your line by line translation was quite
good... I would be happy to host it (and other
translations you have done, if you dont mind my
looking it over first) with my stuff, or link to it if
you have a place you are posting your translations.

In Service (and in need of morning caffeine)
Gwen Cat
