This will be the first major feast day since my ex's mother passed away .. it has become sort of my responsibility to take up the family gathering responsibilities. In order to keep it as traditional as possible but add some of our own flair ... here is what we are serving. I have no idea how many.

Sausage and cream cheese stuffed Baby Bella mushroom caps (stems saved and added to other parts of the meal)
Turkey stuffed with a mixture of apples, onions and garlic
Ham ... my housemate does not care for turkey, him having raised the beasties when he was a kid
mashed potatoes and gravy
focaccia bread and mushroom dressing
sweet potatoes with marshmallow fluff
green beans cooked with bacon, onion, garlic and almonds
cranberry and orange peel relish (I LOVE cranberry shaped like the can .. but not for this meal ... just wouldn't be right)
frog-eye salad
fruit salad made with watermelon, cantaloupe, honeydew melon, and seedless black grapes
Oregon Trail Starter-dough bread rolls (not true 'sour dough' because it isn't 'sour')
Cherry cream-cheese tarts
pumpkin tarts (the Jello instant pumpkin pudding recipe is FABULOUS)

As has become custom in my home, we will be making dinner to take to my mother and her husband. He does not eat onions, so it is almost like making a separate meal. While I can not abide her husband, there are very few things I would NOT do for my mother,

We had to get kind of a head-start since they did surgery on both of my knees on Monday. I will NOT be driving to the store ... or anywhere else for that matter .... today.

However many or few at your table, a blessing to you and those you celebrate with.

Jo (Georgia L.) Foster

Never knock on Death's door. Ring the doorbell and run ... he hates that.
