Morning,

I have checked with my mother in law as to what she had fed my father in law who recently passed away. He had basically the same issues so thought this might help

Mashed potatoes: She added little pieces of chicken for a bit of protein and texture w/ gravy
  Egg custard/flan, tapioca, rice pudding
  Baby sweet potatoes
  Baby ceral
Cream of wheat with maple syrup, brown sugar etc.
wheat bread soaked with gravy and little pieces of turkey, beef or chicken

He never realy ate vegetables, even when he was feeling well so she didn't even bother tyring to give him any. At one point, the Dr's. prescribed some medicine that really boosted his appetite. It worked for a few weeks, but the cancer robbed any strength he gained.

  Hope this helps

When my grandmother (aged 90+ at the time) had stomach troubles, she liked
applesauce, oatmeal, juice, and buttermilk (also spinach, but that doesn't
fall into the parameters here). Oatmeal and applesauce is pretty good eats,
and various powders and vitamins can be added to it. Also oatmeal and
yogurt (especially the fruit flavored ones) is really tasty and can take
the same additives.

One other possibility -- ask him what his mother gave him when he was
little when he was sick. You might find some surprising likes that he'll
want to eat.

Good luck and all my sympathies to you and your grandfather. It's a hard
place where you all are...

toodles, margaret
