Kept the wife.

Exchanged the knife.

Took the knife to a local Henckel dealer.  After playing twenty questions 
with the junior sales staff got taked to a senior.  Result is that I paid 
the difference between what the damaged knife sold for, it has been 
discontinued, and what its replacement now sells for.  I'm out of pocket 
about $26.00 and have a brand new knife.

Wife promises to be more careful.
