Nelson cake
Alleged to be from this book - "1890s Bread and Candymaking Book"
"Take 2lb puff paste, roll out half and spread with 1 1/2lb clean currants
and 1/2 lb raw sugar(muscovado?) and a little spice, dash with a little
water to unite. Roll over rest of paste, ice well with eggwhite and sugar
and bake in square tin in a good oven"
