The New York Times for Friday, May 15th, 2009
has a major article on food safety on the front page.
Food Companies Try, but Can’t Guarantee Safety

by Michael Moss. www.nyt.com

One item that caught my eye was this statement:
"Now, white pepper is being blamed for dozens of salmonella illnesses on
the West Coast, where a widening recall
<http://ww2.cdph.ca.gov/pubsforms/Documents/fdbFrUIFn.pdf> includes
other spices and six tons of frozen egg rolls.

It turns out Lian How Brand Spices and Uncle Chen’s Brand White Pepper
and Black Pepper among other spices are being recalled due to Potential
salmonella contamination.
