Liutgard is  L(y)oot-gard, and having consulted modern authorities have 
been given to understand that the best approximation (this being 
something more than 1200 years later) of Luxeuil in 
Merovingina/Carolingina mouths would be Lucks-oy(uh), with the last 
syllable sort of held back.

And I would prefer, if you will, that Liutgard not be minimized with a 
diminuitive form, especially since there does not appear to be one.
