(TMU= to my understanding) In what I can find, with no docs to back them up,
the Siena sites that I found claim that the original form was those 4
ingredients. a few had a 5th which was sugar. Some of the stories have
citron added later and then nuts. One site which I can not find back said
the walnut and fig version was 1500s but from another region like Venice or
possibly Rome.
