[Sca-cooks] [OT] OCR programs for the Mac?

Stefan,

Mac OS 'Mavericks' has a *free* dictation feature from Apple. Go to
Preferences / Dictation & Speech / Dictation. Turn Dictation 'On'.
Check "Use Enhanced Dictation" and wait for it to download and install
the offline voice recognition package. It is a slightly less capable
version of Dragon.

Put cursor in a text document, enable dictation, and start speaking.

I just did the download, and tested it by reading this email. Not super
great. My voice is clearly non-standard. Later: worked better when I
downloaded a different English language package for it that matches my
accent better.

There's an earlier version of the same thing in the Mountain Lion OS.
