Just found a new blog that may be of interest to foodie SCAdians:
http://www.missfoodwise.com/ . The blogger writes about different eras
and specific foods, following up with her recipe interpretation (and,
frequently, the original recipe). There are beautiful photos of the foods.

Most of the blog recipes are past 1650, but here are two groupings of
interest. For medieval recipes and information:
http://www.missfoodwise.com/tag/medieval/ with recipes for ypocras,
chicken compost and more. And, for the 1600s (17th century):
http://www.missfoodwise.com/category/17th-century/ . Do you like
churros? Robert May, 1660, has a something similar, “To fry Paste out of
a Syringe or Butter-squirt”. Recipe and photos provided!
