Trying to be general: That's usually the best initial policy.  If
someone is deliberately trying to provoke flames -- like way off-topic
inflammatory postings in a USENET newsgroup -- ignoring them can be
for the best.  However, some USENET posters don't get a clue that way.

There are sometimes complaints that the SCA ignores obnoxious or
dangerous behavior at events -- loud partying next to a "residential"
area at 2 AM, say, or an obnoxious man harrassing women.
