To all, greetings and wishes for every good fortune!

The time has come once again for us to welcome the court of King Henry VIII
as the Texas Renaissance Festival celebrates its 25th Anniversary Season with
the Year of the Silver Masque!

The good folks at TRF have asked all participants and merchants to celebrate
in the spirit of the theme by wearing masks during the day and especially
during the Grand Parade held each Festival day at 12:00 noon.

To promote that spirit, we will be conducting a Best Mask Competition at
Texas Renaissance Festival this year!

There will be one winner chosen each of the seven weekends of the Festival,
with each of the weekly winners to participate in the final competition on
Sunday, November 14, the final day of the Festival. Prizes will be awarded
to the grand winner and the weekly winners.

Masks should be made in a period style and should not appear obtrusively
modern in elements or materials. Otherwise, be creative! Have fun!

All entrants are encouraged - but Not Required - to include some form of
documentation outlining how the mask was constructed. This documentation
should be prepared with the curious mundane patron in mind, not the
experienced A&S judge.

If anyone has any questions concerning this contest, please reply privately
to me at stephenmacthomas at aol.com.

General questions regarding Texas Renaissance Festival, including requests
for passes, should be directed to the TRF liaison, HL Yoshimoto no Koriyama
(Yoshi), at cobalt60 at lcc.net, or to the deputy liaison, Lord Vaclav Namatko
(Random), at tedk at ieee.org.

I hope to see many of you participating in this contest and wearing your
masks this year!

In your service,
Lord Stephen Macthomas
