I prefer charcoal for dutch oven cooking, firewood for spit cooking.

hello;

i have two rather large piles[1] of logs that
after splitting could be used for firewood
or using a retort processed into hardwood
charcoal. the charcoal would obviously weigh
less and be easier to use in different situation.
i am attempting to come up with a plan to deal
with the piles.

would you rather use charcoal or firewood for
outdoor cooking? where would you prefer charcoal
over firewood? where would you prefer firewood
over charcoal?

[1] - easily 30 full cords of wood.
30 times 4 ft by 4ft by 8 ft.
