I am curious about what section that you used from:

this one site has a general one page and then separate pages for each
type of activity, which goes into more detail than what a flyer
showcasing the SCA as a whole and the local group as the main focus.

And I would like to see what you were using as well for comparison to
what I am using at fighter practice on Sunday.

The flyers need to be simple, will catch the eye - a simple statement or
statements about the group and then contact information all on the same
flyer.

This is a matter of selling a game or hobby, yet not selling it at all
and there is a extremely fine line between the two. There are too many
individuals or companies who attempting to accomplish the same thing and
it is for their profit margin at the expense of the same people that we
are attempting to present the SCA too.

Perhaps - the method of delivery should be also be question as well. By
using business cards, it almost implies that you (generic you here) is
attempting to sell something or signed the target group up for something
that will come back to haunt them and/or cost them more than they can
afford.
