Steppes Artisan and Fall Court... Steppes Fall Court and Artisan...
dunno which has a better ring. Fall Court's never been a calendar event,
so it seems like a good match up if we were to decide to take Artisan
off of it.
Good thoughts Susanne!

While this is a good thought, and I believe has actually been done in the
past at some of the early Artisans, the point still is that the event would NOT
be eligible for giving out armigerous-type awards, which I believe can only be
given out at a kingdom calendar event. Of course, if an an award has already
be given in a kingdom court and the person wasn't there, I believe that the
Baron/ess can then hand the recipient their award at an off-calendar event,
which gives them the venue to get the award to the person in a more timely fashion.
But such an event would be an ideal place to do things like a Huntsman
Competition for our pointy weapon sorts, while the artisans are somewhere in a hall
having their competition. And maybe some of those titled events such as Ax
and Knife Throw and possibly even Archery could fit into that theme, and remove
them from the overcrowded Warlord schedule. Grices, Tracks, Acorns, even
Rising Stars, plus the title awards could be given out in a relaxed court without
a bunch of kingdom awards. And both Artisan and Fall Court both used to be
pot luck feasts...I can't remember too many (if any) Artisans that had an actual
Feast Steward preparing the feast. The event steward usually selected someone
to coordinate what people were bringing, and the Barony furnished the meats.
That would work, as far as I am concerned, as a Steppes Artisan. But it
would require a proper site with both a hall of sufficient size and capability for
the Artisan, and an outdoor venue appropriate for the other activities.
I think this could work. What say the other Steppes Artisans and our pointy
weapons types lurking in the background? Could you give up recognition of a
kingdom-level event to make this work?

P.S. Before I get creamed by the Archery types, I do realize that Archery
might still have to play a part at Warlord if we continue to offer it as a venue
for shooting IKAC scores. Those DO have to be done at a kingdom calendar
event, I believe. I'm thinking of Steppes Archery Champion, which is a different
shoot. And think of the possibilities of targets if we do a Fall Hunt
theme....! A boar hunt, a deer hunt, hmmmmm. Roast venison anyone? I've got a great
recipe for it!
