What to do on a Sunday? Go out to the Dallas Gem & Mineral Society Annual Show!

There will be lots of vendors and demonstrations of various skills. For more information, go to the web site for the show:

  http://www.dallasgemandmineral.org/Gem-Mineral-Fossil-Show.htm

The web site also has a coupon for $1.00 off the admission ticket price. It's being held at the Resistol Arena in Mesquite and will run from 10:00 to 5:00 on Sunday.

And, since its November, you might find some unique gifts for your loved ones for Christmas. If you haven't gone to one of these, they are great fun. I like to watch them open the geodes.

The Dallas Gem & Mineral Society is a non-profit organization and uses monies made from this show for their activities throughout the year. Their goals are: "promoting knowledge and interest not just in the areas of rocks, minerals, fossils, lapidary art, metal-working, geology and related earth sciences; but also promoting fellowship and support to everyone who has an interest in these wonderful fields."

And now, back to your regularly scheduled Sunday . . .

"Everywhere I go, I'm asked if I think the university stifles writers. My opinion is that they don't stifle enough of them."
