RE: Arlington Library Demo
Words From the Demo Coordinator, Arthur of the Fen KSCA
                           ***************
Good Gentles All:

Once again it is time for the demonstration at the Arlington Public
Library. This outdoor event is scheduled at the Levitt Pavilion on
Saturday, October 22nd and will run from Noon – 5pm. Setup begins at 9am,
but I will be there by 8am in case folks need to come early.

We still need people to help set-up/tear-down, bring and talk about
displays (Arts, Sciences, Weapons, etc.), and martial fighters of both
styles. I strongly encourage you to bring your incomplete projects to work
on during the event because the public really does like to watch and ask
questions. If you have one of “those projects” that you never can find the
time to do, this may be a great way to kill a few birds with one stone.
Share the knowledge, attract newcomers, and finish that project!

We will have pop-up shelters available, and you may also bring your own, as
there will be plenty of space due to another group’s cancellation. The
Arlington Library is providing a lot of tables and chair, but I encourage
you to bring your period chairs to add to the ambiance.

I am also asking that everyone bring table coverings and extra cloth to
help hide the mundanity. I will provide water and Gatorade and an area to
hide wagons and baggage (behind the baronial thrones/pavilion). Bring
your own coffee! However, some lunch items will be provided for SCA
participants—as well as donuts for the set-up crew!

The attached map will give the approximate layout that is planned. Note
that multiple porta-johns will be available, but there is neither running
water nor electricity. The field is nicely covered in grass and will add
to the feel of our demo. Also, the stage is not part of the area Elfsea
will use. The Library has other plans for it, including a 3pm story time
for any children at the event.

The entire Levitt Pavilion is ours. Come! Have fun-- and help us grow by
attracting new members. Show the public why history is where it’s at and
why we follow this dream.

NOTES: The Levitt Pavilion is located across the street from Arlington City
Hall (101 W. Abram, 76010 or the Southwest corner of Abram & Pecan). You
may unload on Pecan Street, but parking will be in the large lot on the
west side of City Hall. Arriving earlier than 12 will also ensure that
you get to use this prime parking--- as the other parking is on the North
Side of the City Tower (101 S. Mesquite) about 3 blocks away.
Do not park in the Church lot or at Mission Arlington as you will be towed.
This site has an underground sprinkler system so there is absolutely no
staking or driving anything into the ground.
It is critical that you let me know if you will be attending this demo, so
I can ensure you have the resources you need (shelters, tables, chairs,
pavilion space). I am also happy to answer any questions.

Yours in service,
Arthur of the Fen KSCA
