Good Morning,
Since some people appear to be jumping the proper channels, I felt I
should share this directly with the region. Please follow the proper
chain of appeal/complaint in order to help ensure your best chances of
success.
If you wish to write any letters of complaint about my performance on
this action, please write them to the Society Seneschal, Crown and Heirs.
In my opinion, it is not in your best interest to write these letters
directly to the Board members since it is the Society Seneschal's job
to investigate this on their behalf.
If I hear of a better course of action from the Society Seneschal, I
will forward it as well.
Ciao,
Pug

Subject: Appeal process
Date: Mon, 7 Jan 2008 15:38:36 -0800
Good Morning,
I would like to reiterate the appeal process for you. I admit this
weekend that while I was stating this out loud that I may not have been
clear or complete. I know that I was distracted and want to make sure
that you get all the help you can from me in this process. We want to
give you the best possible chance of success. Again, please feel free to
share this with your populace.
First, get together and get organized. It will be best for you to have
your ducks in a row, and not be scatter shot or contradictory.
Second, keep it clear, concise and calm. While this is an emotional
problem, the appeal needs to be calm in order for it to have the most
merit.
Finally, don't jump the chain of command. If the process is not followed,
the Board will not hear your request.
That being said the Chain of Appeal is in the Governing Documents at:
http://www.sca.org/docs/govdocs.pdf
should anything I tell you not sound right, refer to it as it is the
authority. I am unfortunately still a human, but I am here to help you
through this process to the best of my ability. Always ask for help
and never assume something you know is right since the rules and processes
have changed over the years.
In my opinion, the way to ensure the best chances of success are as follows:
- In my opinion, nothing can be done until after the official announcement
at Coronation this weekend, since until then there is nothing to appeal.
- We can assume that the verbal aspects of the complaint/appeal have been
met after this weekend.
- Write your first letter of appeal to myself directly, I will return it
with all due haste. This can be via directed email, do not send it to
a mailing list.
- Write your next letter of appeal to the Crown with a copy to me and I will
help ensure it is again handled with all due haste. Again, this can be
via directed email.
- Write your final letter of appeal to the Society Seneschal with a copy
to me and the Crown/Coronet. This can be done via directed email or
USMail. See below for details of what happens now.
- Any group letters of appeal to the Society Seneschal should be sent via
USMail so the signatures can be included. If you decide to do a group
appeal, I recommend individual letters in addition in order to voice your
differing opinion and add weight to the appeal. They can be included in
the same packet.
Once the Society Seneschal gets the appeal, he will determine if the
appeal has merit or not. If it has merit, he will start an investigation
probably assigning someone he trusts to investigate through the Kingdom
as well as the membership base. The results of this investigation will
be given to the Society Seneschal who will then take his recommendation
to the Board of Directors. Should the Society Seneschal deny your
appeal, we will determine if there are any additional avenues open to
you at that time.
In Service,
Master Phelim Gervase called Pug
Acting Kingdom Seneschal
